An actuary, David has held senior roles in the life insurance industry for almost 40 years. In 2001, he became founder and CEO of innovative Edinburgh-based life insurer, Bright Grey. Recently voted employer of the year in Scotland, Bright Grey now employs over 300 staff and is one of the UK’s leading protection insurance providers.

Retired from Bright Grey, David now has a number of Non-Executive positions. He is Chairman of Engage Mutual Assurance, Chairman of Money Dashboard Limited., a member of the Advisory Panel for Par Equity LLP, a member of the Supervisory Board of Fortis Life (Ukraine), a member of the University Court, Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh and Chairman of its Audit Committee.

David is married with two grown-up children.  His leisure interests include skiing, trying to learn Italian, classical music, gardening, running (most recently the Jungfrau & Venice marathons) and playing squash.
